Hello Again!
I am also taking Technology Entrepreneurship (IEOR 191) this semester and my team and I are working on a new start-up idea called Bike Brain.
The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) found that
bicyclist deaths have increased by 16% in the last 2 years. The need for bike
safety is rapidly increasing. With this motivation, we have created The Bike
Brain, which will not only improve biker safety, but revolutionize the entire
biking experience.
Currently, bike lights are too low for large vehicles to see
within a short distance. By placing the lights on the helmet instead and by
integrating the front lights and light indicators into the bike helmet, The
Bike Brain creates a unique solution to biking safety issues. With voice
activation, the indicators can be triggered whenever the biker wants to turn,
eliminating the need for unsafe one-handed bike signals. Accelerometers
embedded into the Bike Brain turn off the indicators when the end of the turn
is detected but can also be deactivated by a voice signal. Accelerometers also
detect deceleration in the bike and activate the rear brake light
automatically. There is no helmet in the market that successfully does all of
these functions.
The Bike Brain also incorporates
a GoPro-like video system which can be used for safety or just for a fun
adventure! You can also upload your GPS path into the Bike Brain and it can
take care of navigation by using voice directions! It can also learn your most
frequented routes and store paths for you automatically! The Bike Brain syncs
with your phone via Bluetooth, tracks your biking distances, and also stores
your acceleration and deceleration profiles. Bike Brain
would provide a device to not only track Heart Rate and Calories like LifeBeam,
but also combine Turn Signal LED lights, an Accelerometer, GPS, and Voice
Recognition to completely revolutionize the biking experience. Be ready to
innovate and enjoy every biking experience with The Bike Brain!
Hi Vruti, Wow! Your start-up idea is really cool. I like how it will benefit the society in a number of ways - safety, information, and health. It seems like a great idea, and I wish you the best of luck with getting it started.
ReplyDeleteHi Vruti!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for your start-up! I hope that this endeavor goes well, and that you are successful in the future. I am sure the resources of Berkeley will help your team to succeed & maybe you can use some of the knowledge from this patent class if your team ever files one!
